A little something
about me
Because I was an extremely artsy, curious and imaginative child, school and I didn't always mesh. Thankfully, every so often, I would get that inspirational teacher who encouraged my strengths, and opened my mind to the wonderful world of learning! I remember deciding, when I was in first grade, to be a teacher, so I could make school fun and exciting for kids. Now, after 25 years in the classroom, that is still my goal. I love the idea of connecting children to their passions, and of creating life long learners. With this in mind, my creative parenting blog offers tips and ideas to grow happy, healthy kids through art, nature, science, STEM, gardening, educational technology and more.

Even though I went into education, I did not give up on my passion for the arts. I fell in love with children's literature, allowing me to combine my other passions, illustrating, writing, nature, and reading, into one art form, CHILDREN'S BOOKS!
My home is my writing/illustrating retreat. I live deep in the woods of North Branch, Michigan, where I enjoy watching wildlife, raising chickens, gardening with my husband, and having fun adventures with family and friends.
