A little something
I started my career as a storyteller at the Flint Public Library. I used my love of children's literature to instill a passion for reading in all of my classrooms, having taught elementary school for nearly 25 years. I've studied art and children's literature at the University of Michigan and have a Master's Degree in education. Because art is such an important part of my life, it was a central focus in my classroom. Over the years, I developed and implemented lessons in color theory, the art elements, and art history. I love, love, love children's books. My favorite thing in the world is reading with children and watching them laugh, learn and grow.
I have 11 grandchildren (about a half a classroom) and am known as "craft" and "book" grandma! My home is my writing/illustrating retreat. I live deep in the woods of North Branch, Michigan, where I enjoy watching wildlife, raising chickens, gardening with my husband, and having fun adventures with family and friends.
